Joo In-jung – Played by Kang Byul
In-jung is a twin sister. She is gentle, optimistic and stands up for what is right. At the age of six, her family had no choice but to be separated because of financial difficulties. And she was sent to live with her uncle in the countryside. Her compassionate high school teacher counseled her to In-jung to join the army which would offer her a college scholarship. to join the army which would offer her a college scholarship. After serving in the army for eight years, she decided to leave despite being told by her friends to remain in the army. She had other goals in life, to return home to be with her daughter, Bo-hyun.
Joo Myun-shik – Played by Sunwoo Jae-duk
Myun-shik grew up poor and inherited his foster dad’s debts that made his life miserable. But he never complained to his foster dad and behaved like a dutiful son according to Neo-Confucian values. Whenever he paid off his foster dad’s debts, his foster dad would get involved in another messy financial situation that Myun-shik would eventually have to deal with. The burden of paying the debt imposed upon him by his foster dad forced him to hand his children off to the relatives. As much as he didn’t want to, he did not have the financial means to take care of them. At the same time, he could not give up on his foster dad because family meant everything to him and his foster dad was the pillar of the household as the family elder.
Joo Eun-hye – Played by Kim So-hye
In-jung’s twin sister. Unlike In-jung, she is calculating, selfish, and sassy. When her family told her that she had to go live with her uncle in the countryside because they were going through difficult financial times, she strongly resisted the idea and instead she successfully convinced her parents to live in the city with her rich aunt and her husband, who agreed to the arrangement. She found herself living a comfortable life and after growing into a young woman, she became fixated on marrying a rich bachelor to climb even higher on the social ladder. Her rich uncle is a top executive at the KR Group and tries to match her with Kang Yoon-ho, the only grandson of the KR Group chairman and founder. But she finds herself in a rivalry for his affection with none other than her twin sister, In-jung whom she cut off all contact ever since she was six.
Kang Yun-ho – Played by Kwon Hyun-sang
He is Jung-in’s ex-boyfriend and Bo-hyun’s biological dad. As the grandson of chairman and founder of the KR Group, he is a general manager in the family business. He has all the qualities of inheriting the chairman position from his grandfather as he adheres to the company’s founding values. While serving in the army, Yoon-ho met a noncommissioned officer named In-jung and they fell in love. But he left her and it deeply hurt both of them. When he was reunited with Jung-in, he realized that he had never stopped loving her, but the situation had become complicated since then and winning her back was not going to be an easy task.
Koo Hyun-jun – Played by Park Jung-wook
With only 200 dollars in his pocket, Hyun-jun started a retail business in America and grew it into a $100 million company at a young age. Before he left for America ten years ago, he was consumed with getting revenge against Kang Han-gil, the president of the KR Group. None of his friends expected him to become so successful.
